The profile of trailblazing chef and native food advocate Jock Zonfrillo continues to grow on the national stage with a series of arguably overdue accolades coming his way in 2017. As well as his restaurant Orana being named Australia’s best in one list, Zonfrillo himself was declared the country’s hottest chef and also received an award for the work done by his foundation in supporting indigenous communities. Closer to home he has taken over as creative curator of the Tasting Australia festival and his revamp of the more casual Bistro Blackwood looks to have struck the right balance for mass appeal. Looking ahead it wouldn’t surprise to see Orana feature when the World’s 50 Best Restaurants (actually a list of 100) are revealed later this year.
